I've heard it all my life, "One person can't change the world" But I say "If you try hard enough you can put a good dent in it!" ;<) wink wink

Mother Teresa said "I alone can't change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters To create
many ripples."

One of the best examples of changing the world is the late great Nelson Mandela" who recently crossed over, Dec 2013; He was 95 years old. Mandela did change the world when he took a stand against Apartheid. He would see a jail cell, and hunger strike before he would acquiesce to the segregation of his people.
I don't know how many of us are capable of such devotion and great faith of purposeAs the late great two aforementioned. However,  I do believe;
